Conditioning

Jun 11, 2010

From my experiece, water polo requires an extreme amount of conditioning. Obviously, swimming and scrimages will improve the athlete's conditioning level, but what about dry-land conditioning?  I feel like conditioning-related exercises such as box jumps, burpees, and even pull-ups will help improve a water polo player's ability in the water to a level unmatched by training that only takes place inside a pool.

Any other dry-land suggestions in regards to conditioning and cross-training?

Thanks!

Hmm most of our practices are in the pool. We do use medicine balls to eggbeater with and that sort of thing, though. On occasion, we hit up the weight room. But we definitely spend a majority of our time in the pool.
